Description:
This advanced Japanese language course introduces students to contemporary Japanese society and culture from the high growth period of the 1960s to the bubble economy of the 1980s, and to the recent two decades of stagnation and a “lost generation.” The course aims to expand oral and written expression, and broaden socio-cultural knowledge through the use of mass media and popular culture. Each week will explore a specific theme using films, TV dramas, popular music, anime, and Manga.
