Description:
Funding agencies want to know if they’ve invested well. Every grant proposal must answer the question “How will you measure your success?” This course familiarizes students with the fundamentals of program assessment--the systematic use of qualitative and/or quantitative data to: determine if a program or project idea is being implemented as designed; identify program strength and weakness; and measure project outcomes and impacts. All types of evaluations are reviewed and compared – including needs assessments, monitoring, formative, and process/implementation, outcome and impact evaluations. In addition, students are exposed to the online tools and resources now available to assist individuals and organizations in assessing their work and receive a brief overview of potential sources of funding for assessments.
