Description:
In this course, students are introduced to humor in French history, film, and modern popular culture as represented in newspapers and on television. The class studies French cartoonists, satirical writers, makers of film comedies, female humorists, political caricaturists, and contemporary comics, gaining insight into the use of humor as a means of resistance and as a critical mirror of French society. Prerequisite: French Level 5 or the equivalent.
