This course explores the potential of Action Research as a methodolgy for the development of grounded theory regarding teaching and learning. It lays out a foundation for situated practitioner research and positions Action Research as a viable approach to resolving the conundrums of educational practice. During the course participants identify a crux in their teaching and explore alternatives to their current situation. Issues of validity, reliability and generality will be explored. Finally, participants will develop an awareness of the rhetorical features of the academic genre used in reporting research findings.
