Limited to 18. This course assumes no previous painting experience. Students are introduced to fine art materials, with demonstrations of their uses and proper care; colors, including setting up the palette, mixing colors, contrasting warm and cool colors, and realistic and abstract uses of color; beginning a painting; working from still life and live models; and fundamentals of composition and design, including proportion. Bring to the first session an 11"x14" canvas pad, a disposable palette, acrylic gloss medium, a jar, a tube of white and a tube of black acrylic paint, and #2 and #3 brushes.
