Senior Seminar II is the second half of a two-course sequence for students in Urban Studies in which they undertake and complete a senior thesis project—a focused, original research project of their own design and execution—as the culmination of their studies. Students register for 1-3 credits, to be determined by the instructor, depending on the results of Senior Seminar I, the scope of the overall project, and the extent of work required for successful completion. While students complete their research independently, they will meet to discuss their research, analyze results, and develop the components of the final paper. Significant time will be devoted to write-up, including workshops of drafts and revisions. While visual and other media may be central or auxiliary components of the project, all theses will culminate in a final thesis paper, roughly 25-30 pages in length. Students are required to give a public presentation of their final theses projects at the end of the seminar. Prerequisite: Senior Seminar I.
