This seminar examines the history of theater from Ancient Greece to today, focusing on European and Asian Classical theater forms. Students explore plays, historical contexts, dramatic conventions, audience, purpose, and technologies across cultures and eras. The course includes readings on theater history, presentations and discussions, as well as outings to performances to experience theater history as it lives on today. This course fulfills the theater history requirement and the global perspectives requirement for Theater majors and minors.
