Sound in time is an ensemble/composition course designed to explore non-traditional ways of organizing sound, rhythm, harmony, notation, and musical form for improvisation and composition. Students will have weekly compositional/improvisational assignments based on these areas of focus which include, but are not limited to: electronic music, graphic scores, the music and instruments of Harry Partch, Soundpainting, Telematics, Enviromental Compostion, the music of Earle Brown, and Will Parson’s “Citizens Band”. A concert of student compositions will be performed by the ensemble at the end of the semester.
