This course explores the aesthetics, techniques, history, and elements of style of punk and noise music, with an emphasis on New York City-based musicians, audiences, and venues. Related topics include postmodernism, youth subcultures, the music industry, and issues of politics and gender. The course offers opportunities for performance and composition.
