In this course, we will examine theories of consumption and lifestyle as well as empirical research on consumption in a range of contexts. We will focus on consumption particularly as it relates to production, commodification, and social class. Specific topics include childhood, gentrification, food, hospitality, tourism, taste, arts, and globalization.
