Updating Contact Information
The Office of the Registrar maintains addresses and phone numbers for currently enrolled students. It is important for all students, especially international students, to keep their addresses and phone numbers current with the university. You can view and update your official, local, permanent and diploma mailing addresses through MyNewSchool.
Evaluation of transfer credits for undergraduate degree students is handled through the school’s admission office (at Mannes, transfer credit evaluation is handled through the dean's office). The Office of the Registrar will post approved transfer credits to the student's transcript. Graduate degree students complete a Transfer of Credit Petition, available at the Office of the Registrar. Consult your school catalog for eligibility and procedures. Please note that The New School does not transfer grades or grade points from other schools. Credits only are transferred.
Name Change Procedures
Legal Change of Name: Current students should complete the Change of Name form with the Office of the Registrar and submit required legal proof of name change, such as a marriage license, a driver’s license, a passport, and divorce papers. These documents must be submitted in person.
Information for Transgender Students
Current transgender students who have not legally changed their names can request that the university notify their instructors of their preferred first name and pronoun. Students should contact the Office of Intercultural Support at 212.229.8996 or email@example.com for more information.
