Updating Contact Information
The Office of the Registrar maintains addresses and phone numbers for currently enrolled students. It is important for all students, especially international students, to keep their addresses and phone numbers current with the university. You can view and update your local and official mailing addresses via MyNewSchool, or you can complete the Change of Address Form (PDF) to update your permanent home address, and send it to the address on the form.
Transferring Credits
Evaluation of transfer credit for undergraduate degree students is handled through the school’s admissions office (at Mannes, transfer credit evaluation is handled through the dean's office). The Office of the Registrar will post approved transfer credit to the student's transcript. Graduate degree students complete a Transfer of Credit Petition available at the Office of the Registrar. Consult your school catalog for eligibility and procedures. Please note that The New School does not transfer grades or grade points from other schools. Credits only are transferred.
Veterans
U.S. veterans requiring certification of their enrollment at The New School should contact the Office of the Registrar at 212.229.5620 x3696.
Name Change Procedures
Legal Change of Name: Current students should complete the Change of Name form with the Office of the Registrar and submit required legal proof of name change, such as marriage license, driver’s license, passport, divorce papers, etc. These must be submitted in person.
Information for Transgender Students
Current transgender students who have not legally changed their names can request that the university notify their instructors of their preferred first name and pronoun. Students should contact the University Registrar, Bill Kimmel, at (212) 229-5620, ext. 3647 or kimmelw@newschool.edu for more information.
