Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) is the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's new Web-based data collection and monitoring system. Every F-1 and J-1 international student or scholar has an electronic immigration record stored in SEVIS. New F-1 and J-1 students and scholars will be required to pay a one-time SEVIS fee after receiving their I-20 or DS-2019; instructions for paying the fee will be included with these documents.
