Welcome to the ISS web page for New School administrators and faculty.
This page is designed to help you assist your international students as quickly and efficiently as possible. ISS also aims to
- Support divisional academic and administrative efforts to improve recruitment and retention of international faculty and students
- Create opportunities for exchange between international and American students
- Assist with the coordination of events with an international focus across the university
- Support study abroad initiatives
- Research and disseminate models of successful internationalization
- Foster partnership with academic and administrative departments to generate and influence, ideas, funding and services
ISS is happy to attend orientations for international students at the different schools and interact frequently with their staff from the admission stage through to graduation and beyond. The office is frequently called upon by different departments to advise on visa status and employment related immigration regulations. The process for hiring an international student is simple and ISS staff are available to assist with any questions regarding immigration status.
ISS has also created a PowerPoint presentation as part of our outreach to internal departments and schools to highlight issues for internationals such as on campus employment and to outline common procedures and regulations that affect internationals which may involve administrators, advisors and or faculty. If you would like ISS to make a presentation for a group of faculty, advisors or administrators, please contact Monique Ngozi Nri, Director, International Student Services nrim@newschool.edu.
Academic Departments
International students and scholars must fulfill certain requirements to remain in the United States. If students drop below full time, withdraw from class, or do not attend class this may impact their stay in the United States.
ISS Liaison
ISS has designated an international student advisor to act as liaison with your school/department. The role of the departmental liaison is to familiarize him or herself with the operation of the school/department and the key members of staff who interact frequently with ISS; to act as a resource for the school and provide information on events and programming; to attend events such as orientation and open houses. Please be aware that liaisons cannot handle the caseload for any division exclusively. Complex, serious, or urgent cases should continue to be directed to the ISS Director or Assistant Director.

ISS staff is available to assist faculty with any suggestions, questions, or concerns you may have with regard to international students or scholars.
