International Community at The New School
The New School’s International Demographics

The New School in the heart of Greenwich Village, New York City hosts over 2,000 international students, researchers and scholars from 101 countries. The majority of our international students and scholars engage in practical or academic training helping to create a vibrant arena for community and career development. According to the Institute of International Education, The New School ranks in the top six among New York City schools for hosting international students, who represent approximately 20% of our overall student population.

The top countries of origin represented on our campus are Korea, Japan Canada, Taiwan, India, Turkey, Germany, Israel, the United Kingdom, Mexico, China, and Brazil. Parsons School of Design is host to the largest number of international students and scholars – over 1,000 students. The largest percentage of international enrollments can be found at our Mannes College The New School for Music, about 41% of the Mannes student population consists of internationals.

There are a significant number of undergraduate and graduate students matriculated at The New School. In Fall 2007, 6,068 students were candidates for undergraduate degrees, and 3,322 students were candidates for graduate degrees.
