NYC Summer 2009 Internship Housing

The New School’s summer Internship Housing program offers the ideal New York City location for interns, visiting scholars, and summer program students who wish to be in the heart of the world’s financial industry. New York City’s downtown area has seen a transformation into a bustling and elegant residential neighborhood. Summer Interns enjoy proximity and quick access to world-class institutions, financial centers, and music, dance, and cultural arts events. Located in the historic Wall Street district, our William Street Residence Hall is home to summer interns, conference groups, and New School University students.

The Residence
The William Street Residence Hall features modern one bedroom apartments, each accommodating three to four persons. Each apartment features hardwood floors, a kitchenette with a refrigerator and a microwave convection oven, free cable TV and Internet access, and air conditioning. Each program participant is also provided with a personal telephone number for which telephone service may be contracted through RCN, our service provider. Each program participant receives a twin bed, a desk and chair, a wardrobe and/or a chest of drawers. The residence hall also features on-site laundry facilities, reading room and TV lounge, and 24-hour security coverage. Please note that “single room” means a private space within a shared apartment.

The Dates
The summer internship housing period begins Sunday, May 31, 2009 and ends on Saturday, August 8, 2009. The program requires a minimum four-week stay and offers a discount on rates for a full 10-week stay.

The Neighborhood
The William Street Residence Hall is located in the heart of lower Manhattan. Nearby attractions include the South Street Seaport, Battery Park, City Hall, Wall Street, and other historical landmarks. The South Street Seaport plays host to numerous outdoor music concerts during the summer months and offers its visitors a variety of shopping venues and restaurants. A gourmet market is located across the street from the residence hall, and a 24-hour grocery is located one block away. All major subway lines are within a two to three block radius of the residence hall, making it easy to get anywhere in the city within minutes.

The Application
Complete the summer 2009 Internship Housing Contract (see link to application below) and send it with a check or money order for the full housing amount due made payable to The New School. Upon receipt, you will receive confirmation about your room assignment and other information pertinent to your stay with us.
