Graduate Housing

IMG Graduate Housing Color

The graduate programs at The New School attract students from all parts of the world. While many graduate students prefer to live in off-campus accommodations, others prefer the convenience of living in student housing. The New School offers graduate student accommodations ranging from shared apartments to traditional residence hall rooms. We strive to provide our graduate students with single occupancy rooms but also offer double or triple occupancy rooms to fit every budget.

The university encourages graduate students who are unfamiliar with New York City or who are coming from long distances to consider living in student housing for the first year of study. If you are receiving financial aid, your housing costs can be deferred until your loan or scholarship is posted to your account. Most importantly, living in student housing gives you opportunities to meet and live among other graduate students to enhance your academic experience.

The search for off-campus apartments in New York City can be a time consuming and challenging endeavor. If you opt not to apply for graduate student housing, make sure you devote ample time to search for your own apartment. Learn about information and services the Office of Student Housing offers to assist in the process.
