- Navigate to your MySpace home page.
- Click on the account settings link in the blue box at the top left portion of the screen where it says "Hello ____."
- In the “Account settings” screen, there are a variety of privacy settings that you can enable or disable:
- Check "Require email or last name to add me as a friend," if you want other users to be required to know your email address or your last name in order to send you an “Add Friend” request. This prevents people who do not know you from trying to add you as a friend.
- Check "Approve Comments before Posting," if you want to review comments to your profile and journals, before they are posted. Comments will NOT appear unless and until you approve them.
- Check "Hide Online Now" to make your online status invisible to other users.
- Check "Show My Birthday to my Friends" to alert your friends when your birthday is near.
- Check "No Pic Forwarding" to prevent other users from emailing links to your images from the site.
- Check "Friend Only Journal Comments" to allow only your friends to post comments on your blog entries.
- Check "Block Friend Requests From Bands" to block unwanted friend requests from musical groups or companies posing as musical groups.

- To block a user who is harassing you, you will need to visit that user's profile and click on “Block User.” You will find this underneath “Send Message,” and clicking “Block User” will prevent that user from contacting you.
Blocked users can still view your profile, but they cannot send you a message or communicate with you. There is no way in MySpace to prevent someone from seeing your profile.
- If you are being harassed or defamed by a bogus profile that someone created in your name, you may contact MySpace using the web form below, and they will investigate and remove all offending profiles. This may require a few days of waiting and your repeated requests.
