The Health Education office provides a variety of health-related workshops, training, classroom presentations, and face-to-face sessions to student in every school. Topics include, but are not limited to: fitness, smoking, nutrition, LGBTQ issues, spiritual health, gender specific health topics, communication skills, relationships, drugs and alcohol, stress, and time management. All programs and services are structured to encourage and empower New School's community to work towards its optimal health and well being in a non-judgmental and supportive environment.
Peer Health Advocates and Student Health Advisory Council
All degree-seeking students are eligible to join the Health Education team as peer health advocates, either as volunteers, work-study students, or as interns. Students will be trained in health education, communication skills, and program facilitation, to support and implement the services provided by the office. Students interested in becoming policy advocates at The New School (e.g. organic food, smoking policies, gender-inclusive bathrooms, etc.), can join the Student Health Advisory Council, which meets weekly. For more information on either program, please call or stop by the Health Educator's office.
