Important Financial Aid Deadlines

In order to ensure the timely and accurate processing of awards and optimal use of scarce aid funds, the Office of Student Financial Services adheres to strict deadlines concerning the application and disbursement of financial aid. Those deadlines are listed below.

What? When?
Deadline for APTS (Aid for Part Time Study) applications for the spring semester January 30

Priority FAFSA deadline for currently enrolled students and students admitted for the upcoming fall semester March 1
FAFSA deadline to be considered for Federal Work Study May 1
Deadline for APTS (Aid for Part Time Study) applications for the fall semester October 1

Priority FAFSA deadline for students admitted or re-admitted for the following spring semester November 1
Completed financial aid verification documents Within 30 days of request. (Requests are emailed to students’ New School email address and are also available for viewing online at mynewschool.edu.)

Note: The FAFSA can be submitted anytime between January 1 and June 30 of each aid year (e.g., January 1, 2013, through June 30, 2014, for the 2013-2014 aid year), but priority for institutional need-based funds and federal campus-based aid will be given to those who meet the priority deadlines stated above. Failure to submit completed FAFSAs or verification documents by the stated deadlines could lead to reduction or cancellation of institutional scholarships, federal SEOG grants, and federal Perkins loan awards.
