Congratulations on your acceptance! Advising begins with the selection of classes for your first semester and continues throughout your time at The New School. Advisors are here to help you clarify your goals, identify unique learning opportunities, and map a personalized path to prepare you to lead creative innovation. Your advisor will be assigned to you on the basis of your college, program of study, or major. In some cases, your advisor may also be assigned on the basis of your last name, year level, or specific area of interest.The registration process for fall 2015 varies by program. You will be contacted via your New School email account with more information and registration instructions specific to your program. Below is general information to assist you in planning.
Advising and registration for new students will begin May 4 and continue throughout the summer. Before you can register for classes, you'll need to speak with an advisor. If you live near New York City or can travel to the city, your advising session will be in person. For students who are not able to get to New York for advising, your appointment can be done over the phone or via Skype. Advising sessions are usually 30-45 minutes. Information for Accepted Students
Beginning in early June, students who have reserved their place at NSSR by submitting the required tuition deposit will receive an email from the Office of Academic Affairs at their New School email address. This email introduces students' academic advisors and provides directions for scheduling an advising appointment and for registration. All new students must submit the required tuition deposit in order to register.

Advising and registration for new students will take place during orientation week, which begins on August 24, 2015. Throughout orientation week, you will take a series of placement exams covering all of the core musical subjects, private lesson proficiency, and ensemble placement. At the end of orientation week, you will have a one-on-one appointment with your advisor to go over the results of your placement exams and to register for classes. You can also visit the

Mannes College students register in person with their advisors. Most registration appointments will be scheduled during orientation week (August 24–28). Upon completion of online placement tests, new Mannes students who will be in New York City in June or July are invited to schedule an appointment with their advisor to register for classes prior to orientation week.
