    Congratulations on your acceptance! Advising begins with the selection of classes for your first semester and continues throughout your time at The New School. Advisors are here to help you clarify your goals, identify unique learning opportunities, and map a personalized path to prepare you to lead creative innovation. Your advisor will be assigned to you on the basis of your college, program of study, or major. In some cases, your advisor may also be assigned on the basis of your last name, year level, or specific area of interest.

    The registration process for fall 2015 varies by program. You will be contacted via your New School email account with more information and registration instructions specific to your program. Below is general information to assist you in planning.

    Schools of Public Engagement

    Bachelor's Program for Adults and Transfer Students

    You will register starting May 4. For information about academic advising and registering for classes, please log in to your Admission Hub.

    School of Media Studies

    All new Media Studies degree students will receive a registration email. Be sure to check your New School email account.

    Milano School of International Affairs, Management, and Urban Policy

    You will register starting June 8. Fall 2015 registration information will be mailed to you. Be sure to check your New School email account for this information.

    MATESOL Program

    You will register starting May 4. Initially, you will receive an email from the director of the MATESOL program containing information about registration. Be sure to check your New School email account for this information. You will then meet the director for advisement.

    You will register starting June 8. You will receive an email from the Writing Program with registration information the week of June 1. Be sure to check your New School email account for this information.

    The New School for Social Research

    You will register starting on June 1.

    Information for Accepted Students

    Beginning in early June, students who have reserved their place at NSSR by submitting the required tuition deposit will receive an email from the Office of Academic Affairs at their New School email address. This email introduces students' academic advisors and provides directions for scheduling an advising appointment and for registration. All new students must submit the required tuition deposit in order to register.

    Parsons School of Design

    Advising and registration for new students varies on the basis of degree and major program.

    • Students accepted into AAS programs; BFA, BBA, and BS sophomore and junior transfer students; and visiting students will begin registering on June 1, 2015.
    • First-year BFA, BBA, and BS students will begin registering on June 1, 2015.
    • Graduate students accepted into the School of Art Design History and Theory, the School of Constructed Environments, the School of Design Strategies, and the School of Fashion will begin registering on June 1, 2015.
    • Graduate students in the Master's of Photography program will register on site on June 8, 2015.
    • Graduate students in the Master's of Design and Technology and Master's of Data Visualization programs will register beginning June 15, 2015.

    Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts

    You will register starting June 2, 2015. For information about academic advising and registering for classes, please refer to these links

    School of Jazz

    Advising and registration for new students will take place during orientation week, which begins on August 24, 2015. Throughout orientation week, you will take a series of placement exams covering all of the core musical subjects, private lesson proficiency, and ensemble placement. At the end of orientation week, you will have a one-on-one appointment with your advisor to go over the results of your placement exams and to register for classes. You can also visit the Jazz Academic Advising website for current information.

    Mannes School of Music

    College Division: Bachelor of Music, Master of Music, Professional Studies Diploma

    Mannes College students register in person with their advisors. Most registration appointments will be scheduled during orientation week (August 24–28). Upon completion of online placement tests, new Mannes students who will be in New York City in June or July are invited to schedule an appointment with their advisor to register for classes prior to orientation week.

    Mannes NEXT

    • Registration appointments for new NEXT Diploma (EDPL) students will be August 26–28.
    • Registration appointments for new ESL + Music Certificate students will be the first week in September.
    • Orientation information will be sent July 20.
