Dining Dollars Meal Plans

Dining Dollars meal plan works like a debit card. Funds are deposited into your account and accessed by swiping your newcard in the cafeterias. The cost of purchases are deducted from the balance remaining in your account. Since this is classified as a meal plan, food purchases are not subject to sales tax. Each time the card is swiped, the balance is reduced until you use up all of the “Dining Dollars” in your account.

Students in dorms with mandatory meal plan programs are automatically enrolled in a Dining Dollars meal plan program at the rate established for their dorm.  Funds are billed on their student account and monies are automatically deposited into their account.  These funds are accessed by using your newcard and purchases are deducted from your account. Since this is a meal plan, food purchases are not subject to New York State sales tax (8.75%). Your available balance is displayed at the register at the end of each transaction.

All members of The New School community are encouraged to enroll in the Dining Dollars program.  This program provides convenience - you use your newcard for your food purchases - and saves money since meal plan purchases are not subject to New York State sales tax (8.75%).  You are welcome to add more dollars to your plan throughout the semester.  Money remaining on your card in the fall will carry over to the spring semester, but cannot be refunded after the spring session. 

Dining Dollars accounts can be activated at any time by adding funds to your account. You can either use the online portal, newcardcash.newschool.edu, or visit the Campus Card Services office located at 66 West 12th Street, room 409.

How do I enroll in or add money to my Dining Dollars account? 

Dining Dollars can be added at any time.  You can either sign on to mynewschool and click on the Dining Dollars tab or you can visit the Campus Card Services office located at 66 West 12th Street, Room 409.
