Guy Standing

Professor of Economic Security, University of Bath, UK
Work after Globalization: Building Occupational Citizenship
In a lecture based on his ground-breaking book, Guy Standing presented a new perspective on work and citizenship, moving away from the 20th century emphasis on the importance of capital and focusing on the need of creative labor in economic development. In his SCEPA lecture, he discussed labor practices of the contemporary world as shaped by states, employers, trade unions, the globalization of labor markets, and financial market crises.
