New York Film Academy

  • The New School for Public Engagement acknowledges the learning experience of students at New York Film Academy (NYFA) and will award transfer credits to graduates of a NYFA one-year program of study who are admitted to the Bachelor of Arts/Science in Liberal Arts program of the School of Undergraduate Studies. The transfer agreement applies only to students who complete one of the programs described below with a minimum GPA from NYFA of 3.0.     The number of credits that can be transferred to The New School bachelor's degree program varies:

    • 1-Year Program in Acting for Film (28 credits)
    • 1-Year Program in Documentary Filmmaking (36 credits)
    • 1-Year Program in Filmmaking (39 credits)
    • 1-Year Program in Producing (39 credits)
    • 1-Year Program in Screenwriting (38 credits)

    Note:

    • The maximum number of credits that could be transferred to an NSPE undergraduate program is 84. Applicants from NYFA who have also taken college courses at other institutions can have those courses reviewed according to our standard transfer credit policies.
    • Students who transfer fewer than 30 liberal arts credits to an NSPE undergraduate program are required to take their first 12 credits in general education courses.
