David Gates
David Gates is the author of Jernigan and Preston
Falls and, most recently, The Wonders of the Invisible World, a
collection of short stories. His short stories have appeared in
Esquire, GQ, Grand Street, Ploughshares, TriQuarterly, Best American
Short Stories: 1994, and Prize Stories 1995: The O'Henry Awards. He
writes about books and popular music for Newsweek, and his nonfiction
has appeared in Esquire, New York Times Book Review, Rolling Stone, and
Virginia Quarterly Review, among other publications. He has taught at
Harvard, the University of Virginia, and the University of Connecticut.
He received a Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship in 1999.
