Mark is Professor of Management and Chair of Graduate Management Programs at the Milano School International Affairs, Management and Urban Policy. He is also creator and Director of The Tenenbaum Leadership Initiative, a highly-focused executive development program targeted specifically to founders of non-profit organizations and the CEOs who directly succeed them. His most recent book, Guiding Growth: How Vision Keeps Companies on Course, was published by Harvard Business School Press in 2003 and has subsequently been translated into a number of foreign languages. Mark’s research and opinions on management and strategy have appeared in the Harvard Business Review, Sloan Management Review, Journal of Management Consulting, among others. He is a regular commentator on management, leadership and organizational strategy issues for National Public Radio’s Marketplace, The Chronicle of Philanthropy, as well as other media outlets. A sample of the diversity of private clients to whom he has provided consulting support include Google, JetBlue, Deloitte (all client-facing divisions), Ernst & Young Consulting, The D.E. Shaw Group, Citibank, Landor Associates, AIG, NYC Health and Hospitals Corporation, The Ford Foundation, UNICEF, CARE, U.S. Centers for Disease Control, Cotton, Inc., American Thoracic Society, American Heart Association, Statkraft Group (Norway), Barnard College, Bank Street College of Education, and Stevens Institute of Technology. Leadership development programs designed by Mark are enhancing talent in regional and foreign governments, corporations, and large nonprofit organizations. His coaching skills are engaged by C-level executives across all three sectors of the economy. Much of his work in executive development with foreign NGOs has been made possible, in part, through grants from the Ford, Rockefeller, Mott and Charles Revson Foundations. He is completing a book that examines the ‘dark side’ of entrepreneurship. Mark builds the case that some entrepreneurs’ egregious behaviors arise from a disturbing psychiatric disorder. But more troubling is the collateral damage of this disorder on their families, employees, and their organizations.
