Degree Requirements

The Master of Science degree is awarded for successful completion of 36 credits comprised of 11 courses (33 credits), and a Capstone course (3 credits) in which students work closely with a faculty advisor to complete either a master's thesis or business plan.

The coursework is designed to introduce management structures, strategies and methods, finance, networked collaboration, Internet culture, and contemporary media practices. Students will engage in particular media business and management issues, enabling some degree of specialization. Three of the general elective courses (9 credits) may be selected from the course offerings at The School for Media Studies, or with advisor approval, another graduate program at the University.

Our extensive curriculum and limited number of required courses gives students many possibilities to design their own paths through the program and sample a wide variety of approaches and techniques.
