Part Time Faculty
Thushara Hewage is completing his PhD in Anthropology at Columbia University. His dissertation is entitled “Genealogies of Democracy: Insurgency, Emergency and Welfare in Postcolonial Sri Lanka.” His research interests include postcolonial democracy, constitutional and legal theory, intellectual history and questions of identity and secularism. He has a BA (Hons) in Modern History from Oxford University and an M.Phil in Oriental Studies from Cambridge University. In addition to his ethnographic and archival work in Sri Lanka, he has worked and conducted research on adivasi identity in western India.
