  • The New School understands the time and commitment required when you return to school as an adult. That's why we offer a variety of ways to help you save time and money.     Prior Learning

    Earn up to 30 transfer credits by preparing portfolios that demonstrate college-level learning acquired outside the classroom through jobs, independent study, or volunteer work—and/or by taking an exam to show foreign language proficiency. Learn how.

    Bachelor's-Master's Program

    Go further faster by earning up to 12 graduate-level credits that can apply toward both your bachelor’s degree and a New School graduate degree. Learn how.

    Scholarships and Awards

    New School scholarships—awarded on the basis of need and merit—include awards for community college students, students in the performing arts, and students over 25 returning to college after being out of school for 5 or more years. Learn about all the options.

    Transfer Credits

    Transfer up to 84 credits into the program.

    Transfer Agreements

    The New School’s formal agreements with community colleges, AMDA, CAP21, International Culinary Center, and New York Film Academy make it easy to transfer credits from those institutions to The New School. Learn more.
