Parsons celebrates 'Emerging Voices' in architecture

Faculty & alumni of Parsons School of Design featured in 30 Years of Emerging Voices: Idea, Form Resonance, a book highlighting 250 of the most innovative North American design firms of the last three decades

Thursday, February 11, 2016, 6-9 p.m. at The New School in New York City

WHAT:

Parsons School of Design's School of Constructed Environments (SCE) and The Architectural League of New York present Emerging Voices at Parsons SCE: Transforming Models and Practices, an event celebrating Parsons alumni and past and present faculty members featured in the recently published 30 Years of Emerging Voices: Idea, Form, Resonance. The book is an unprecedented collection of design projects and practices from 250 of the most innovative North American design firms of the past three decades. Copies will be available for purchase at a discount.

Following an introduction by Anne Rieselbach, program director at The Architectural League, the event will feature a Pecha Kucha-style talk with Parsons SCE faculty and alumni, as well as a panel conversation on emerging disciplinary and hybrid models of practice with recent Parsons SCE graduates and current students, moderated by Alan Brake, U.S. Editor at Dezeen.

"The Emerging Voices juried lecture series recognizes architects, landscape architects, and urban designers who have both significant work to show and significant ideas to share," Rieselbach said. "From the inaugural presentations more than thirty years ago to the present, firms selected by The Architectural League as Emerging Voices have spoken compellingly about their work while framing its relationship to theory, practice, and place."
