WHAT: |
The Center for Public Scholarship presents the 33rd Social Research conference, dedicated to exploring the ways in which sanctions and divestments have been used to influence the policies of governments regarding important issues such as nuclear disarmament, climate change, and human rights. Issues to be addressed include sanctions levied against Russia in light of the ongoing crisis in Ukraine, the accord for Iran’s nuclear program, and the removal of Cuba from the US list of state sponsors of terrorism and normalization of relations. The program will culminate with a keynote address by R. Nicholas Burns, former Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs. |
