The New School presents the second round of 2015 spring semester public programming in the Performing Arts. Since its founding in 1919, The New School has been a fixture in New York City’s performing arts scene, showcasing work in music, drama, and dance by its talented students.

Mannes Orchestra at Carnegie Hall: Mannes Orchestra joins the New York Choral Society for a performance of Adams'sOn the Transmigration of Soulsand Hindemith'sWhen Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom’d. April 8, 7:30 PM at Carnegie Hall 881 7th Avenue, New York, NY 10019.

Schneider Concerts Presents - Trio Cavatina:The Schneider Concert series at The New School aims to provide exposure for outstanding emerging professional chamber artists and to present accessible high-quality chamber music performances to all New Yorkers. The Trio Cavatina includes Harumi Rhodes, violin, Priscilla Lee, cello, Ieva Jokubaviciute, piano. Program: Robert Schumann, Fantasiestucke in A Minor for Piano Trio, Op. 88 (1842); Douglas Boyce, Piano Trio (new commission 2014); Ludwig van Beethoven, Piano Trio in E-flat Major, Op. 70, No. 1 (1795). New Voices Playwrights Festiva: Five plays in repertory highlight The New School for Drama’s graduating playwrights, directors, and actors of 2015. April 16-25, 2015. The Theater at The New School for Drama, 151 Bank Street, New York, NY 10014.

The New School for Performing Arts: Silent Movie Night: Charles Neidich, Assistant Professor, directs contemporary music performed by ensembles from Mannes School of Music and the School of Jazz, to accompany the silent films Sherlock Jr. (Buster Keaton) and The Immigrant (Charlie Chaplin). Actor Matthew Broderick will co-host the evening, and composer Craig Marks will give a pre-concert talk. April 27 at 7PM. John L. MACE – (Mannes American Composers Ensemble) Concert 3: MACE is a large ensemble that focuses on the music of living American composers, including iconic masters and up-and-coming new voices. Program TBA. May 1, 7:30 PM at Mannes College Concert Hall, 150 West 85th Street, New York NY 10024.

Lang Spring Dance Production: Students from Eugene Lang College will perform a selection of original dance works by student and guest choreographers. May 8, 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM. New York Live Arts, 219 W 19th Street, New York, NY 10011.

The Mannes Opera Spring Production: The critically acclaimed Mannes Opera Young Artists present a complete, fully staged performance of Jonathan Dove’s Flight, in collaboration with the Mannes Orchestra and Parsons School of Design. May 9, 7:30 PM, and Sunday, May 10, 1:30 PM at the Gerald W. Lynch Theater – John Jay College, 525 West 59th Street, New York, NY, 10019.
