The New School hosts an opening reception and celebration of the unveiling of Glenn Ligon’s “For Comrades and Lovers,” a striking, site-specific installation for the university. The commission, Ligon's most ambitious neon work to date, presents the artist's poignant investigation of the writings of one of New York City's most iconic and influential poets, Walt Whitman. Streams of neon text chosen from Leaves of Grass travel around the perimeter walls of The New School University Center's first-floor Event Café. |
