Mannes College The New School for Music’s professional chamber music series, the Schneider Concerts presents the Dover String Quartet, winners of the 2013 Banff International String Quartet program, in a program of Haydn, Beethoven, and Kaija Saariaho.

The performance will take place on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at 2 p.m. in The Auditorium at 66 W. 12th Street at The New School.

The Dover String Quartet was catapulted to international stardom following a stunning sweep of the 2013 Banff International String Quartet Competition, becoming one of the most in-demand ensembles in the world. The New Yorkerrecently dubbed them “the young American string quartet of the moment,” andThe Stradraved that the Quartet is “already pulling away from their peers with their exceptional interpretive maturity, tonal refinement and taut ensemble.”

In 2013-14, the Quartet became the first ever Quartet-in-Residence for the venerated Curtis Institute of Music. During the 2014-15 season, the Dover Quartet will perform more than 100 concerts throughout the United States, Canada, South America, and Europe. In addition, the Quartet will participate in week-long residencies for Chamber Music Northwest, the Phoenix Chamber Music Festival, the Chamber Music Society of Logan, and the Festival Internacional de Musica de Cartagena. The Quartet has been reengaged a remarkable number of times for return appearances throughout the United States, Canada, Germany, Austria, Italy, and Great Britain. The Dover String Quartet made its New York debut at Schneider Concerts series.

Hailed in The New York Times as “one of the best deals in town for lovers of classical music,” for nearly six decades, Mannes College The New School for Music’s Schneider Concerts series has presented outstanding young artists and ensembles at non-exclusionary ticket prices. The series stays young by keeping in touch with the next generation of classical music leaders, while remaining connected to a remarkable history that includes the New York debuts of pianist Peter Serkin and the Guarneri, Cleveland, and Vermeer String Quartets and TASHI. Artists such as Yefim Bronfman, Richard Goode, Jaime Laredo, Yo Yo Ma, and Murray Perahia were introduced to New York audiences early in their careers.
