NEW YORK (June 12, 2013)—Mannes College The New School for Music presents the 2013 INSTITUTE AND FESTIVAL FOR CONTEMPORARY PERFORMANCE (IFCP), June 17 - 26, with performances running June 23 - 26. Committed to deepening performers’ and audiences understanding of avant garde music from the 20th and 21st centuries, the IFCP presents workshops, master classes, lectures, symposia, and concerts featuring some of the genre’s most significant performers, composers, and thinkers.

This year’s IFCP features performances by clarinetist Allen Blustine, violinist Caroline Chin, flautist Susan Palma Nidel, pianist Marc Ponthus and violinist Rolf Schulte. Festival programming focuses on the wealth of modern repertoire for solo, unaccompanied instruments as well as for chamber ensemble. In addition, this year’s institute will also examine new directions in solo performance through the addition of video and text elements.

The IFCP is part of Mannes’s rich summer offerings, including the Beethoven Institute (May 30 - June 4), the New York Guitar Seminar (July 9 – 14), and the International Keyboard Institute and Festival (July 14 – 28).
