New York, September 12, 2012 - For the sixth consecutive year, U.S. News & World Report's "Best Colleges" edition has recognized The New School as the nation's leading university for international undergraduates. The magazine's rankings, which are released today, also name the legendary progressive university one of the official "Best Colleges of 2013."

With more than 10,000 degree-seeking students, The New School attracts a global student body pursuing undergraduate and graduate study in liberal arts, design, administration and management, and the performing arts. The university's historic Greenwich Village campus - which will soon be expanded by a 16-story University Center, set to open in fall 2013 - connects students directly to New York City's unmatched cultural and business opportunities.

"Since our founding nearly a century ago, students from all over the world have helped fuel The New School's creative engine," said President David E. Van Zandt. "From politics to the environment to changing global cities, today's most pressing challenges do not stop at national borders. That is why we remain committed to educating the next generation of leaders in truly global classrooms."

According to 2012 enrollment data, more than 27 percent of The New School's undergraduates come from outside of the United States. The New School's 1,847 international undergraduates represent 96 countries and are enrolled in all of the university's Bachelor's degree programs, including those at Eugene Lang College, Mannes College The New School for Music, and Parsons The New School for Design. The most-represented nations are South Korea, Canada, China, India, Taiwan, Mexico, France, the United Kingdom and Brazil.

The New School, a leading progressive university in New York City, was founded in 1919 as a center of intellectual and artistic freedom. Today The New School is still in the vanguard of innovation and experimentation in higher education, with more than 10,000 undergraduate and graduate students in design and liberal arts, management, and the performing arts and thousands of adult learners in continuing education courses. Committed to public engagement, The New School welcomes thousands of New Yorkers yearly to its celebrated public programs and maintains a global presence through its online learning programs, research institutes, and international partnerships.
