PHOTOGRAPHERS WELCOME FROM 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM

What: Tim Gunn and Kay Unger will be visiting the Parsons Scholar program, a free college prep program for motivated New York City public high school students from diverse backgrounds. This is in advance of an event to benefit the program at Bloomingdales on April 25, at which Gunn will appear alongside Parsons alumni Lela Rose, Narciso Rodriguez, Tracy Reese, and more.

Who:

Tim Gunn: Author and television personality Tim Gunn, famous for his work on Project Runway and Tim Gunn’s House of Style. Gunn was on faculty at Parsons from 1982 to 2007.

Kay Unger: Fashion designer, New School Trustee, Parsons Board of Governors member, and an alumna and friend of Parsons.

Parsons Scholars: The Parsons Scholars Program is a free, comprehensive, and sequential college-prep program that gives motivated New York City public high school students from diverse backgrounds access to all that Parsons The New School for Design has to offer. The scholars enroll from grades 10 - 12. They study all aspects of design, from drawing, illustration, animation, digital photography and video, to architectural design, interior design, accessory design, fashion design, and beyond.

  • 94% of teens complete the program.
  • 95% of those go on to college
  • 75% are the first in their families to go to college.
