GLOBAL PROBLEMS, GLOBAL SOLUTIONS
AN ADDRESS BY GORDON BROWN, FORMER UK PRIME MINISTER

A Call for Global Cooperation from One of The World's Most Influential Political Leaders
Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at The New School

New York, September 15, 2011 —The New School for Social Research presents the 2011 Hans Maeder Lecture, Global Problems, Global Solutions, delivered by former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Gordon Brown.

Brown will address a wide range of global economic, environmental and political issues including climate change, the difficulties of the Copenhagen Climate Change Talks, the stalled World Trade talks and impediments to worldwide financial supervision and the global epidemic of unemployment. Drawing on nearly 30 years in politics, Brown will argue that as the world continues to globalize, transnational cooperation and the cultivation of a shared, global ethic are the lynchpins of a peaceful and secure future. Brown will outline how the G20 can develop into a forum for these debates.

From 2007 to 2010, Gordon Brown served as Prime Minister and Labour Party Leader, and from 1997 to 2007 he was Chancellor of the Exchequer. Brown, who holds a PhD in History from the University of Edinburgh, has served in Parliament since 1983.

Global Problems, Global Solutions will take place on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at The New School. Admission is restricted to The New School community, but select members of the press may attend with credentials.
