AN EVENING WITH GHANA THINKTANK: THE WORLD'S MAJORITY SOLVES PROBLEMS FOR THE FIRST WORLD
Part of MobilityShifts: An International Future of Learning Summit
Thursday, October 13, 2011, at 7:30 p.m. at The New School
|
WHAT: |
A conversation with artists and Ghana ThinkTank founders John Ewing & Christopher Robbins on the hidden assumptions and cross-cultural frictions inherent in international development. Ewing and Robbins will discuss recent projects by their organization, a worldwide network of think tanks seeking to reverse the customary flow of knowhow by asking developing countries to solve problems in the developed world. Sponsored by the Vera List Center for Art and Politics at The New School, this talk will propose surprising solutions to the problems addressed in MobilityShifts, a weeklong summit on the future of digital learning.
In addition to the workshop, the Ghana ThinkTank has established a mobile headquarters at The New School for the duration of the conference. The unit, a custom built teardrop trailer parked at 66 West 12th Street and open daily from noon-6 p.m., is used to collect issues of concern from local communities. On Friday, October 14 at 5 p.m., the Ghana ThinkTank Mobile Unit will host a public strategy session on how to support Occupy Wall Street.
