WHAT: Dr. Helen Caldicott, president of the Nuclear Policy Research Institute, and Jonathan Schell, Harold Willens Peace Fellow at the Nation Institute, discuss the dangers of a prospective revival of nuclear power and weapons in the 21st century. Co-sponsored by the Wolfson Center for National Affairs and the World Policy Institute at the New School, the conversation emphasizes the fatal nexus of proliferation, terrorist groups, and newly aggressive nuclear policies of the United States and other nuclear powers.

Dr Helen Caldicott, has devoted the last 35 years to an international campaign to educate the public about the medical hazards of the nuclear age and the changes in human behavior that are necessary to stop environmental destruction. She has founded numerous organizations including Physicians for Social Responsibility, the STAR (Standing for Truth About Radiation) Foundation, and most recently the Nuclear Policy Research Institute (NPRI) where she is also president. In addition to lecturing widely, she has received a wide-array of honors, has been the subject of award-winning documentaries, and is the author of five books, including The New Nuclear Danger: George Bush's Military Industrial Complex in 2001.
