MANNES COLLEGE OF MUSIC PRESENTS A MASTER CLASS WITH CELLIST BONNIE HAMPTON ON TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 22, 2005, 9:30 AM

(New York, NY - January 3, 2005) New School University’s Mannes College of Music will present a master class with cellist Bonnie Hampton on Tuesday, February 22, 2005 at 9:30 a.m. Mannes master classes are free and open to the public and take place at Mannes College of Music, 150 West 85th Street, NYC. Bonnie Hampton leads an active music life as a chamber musician, soloist, and teacher. She was a founding member of the Naumberg Award-winning Francesco Trio. Her solo debut with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra was followed by appearances with orchestras nationally performing the entire standard repertoire and most of the 20th century concertos written for cello.

Hampton has been involved in performances of new music since the beginning of her career and has had the opportunity to work with many composers, including Carter, Copland, Dallapiccola, Davidovsky, Harbison, Kirschner, Kodaly, Mann, Milhaud, Powell, Shifrin and Turok. Her chamber music appearances have included performances with the Juilliard, Guarneri, Cleveland, Mendelssohn, Alexander, and Budapest String Quartets.

A student of Pablo Casals, she participated for many years in the Casals and Marlboro Music Festivals. She has also performed at the Chamber Music West, Seattle, Ravinia, and Santa Fe Chamber Music Festivals. Currently, she is involved in the summer program at Tanglewood Music Center and the Yellow Barn Festival. She has been on the faculty of The Juilliard School since September 2003.
