Pianist and Mannes alumnus, Richard Goode, will present a master class on Friday, October 29, 2004 at 3:00 p.m., at Mannes College of Music, a division of New School University. The master class is part of Manness yearlong festival, The Flowering of Romanticism. A native of New York, pianist Richard Goode has been hailed for music making of tremendous emotional power, depth and expressiveness.
In the 2004-05 season, Richard Goode will play engagements across the United States and Europe. In December 2004, he will play recitals in Madrid, Utrecht, London and Cologne. Spring 2005 will see recitals at Pariss Châtelet and Antwerps De Singel, as well as an extensive U.S. tour with Dawn Upshaw, with nearly a dozen dates on the West Coast and Eastern Seaboard.
The 2004-2005 season will also see two significant additions to Goodes extensive discography, both on Nonesuch: a collection of Mozart sonatas and short pieces and a version of the recital program that he and Dawn Upshaw have been touring, and continue to tour.
Goode studied with Elvira Szigeti and Claude Frank, with Nadia Reisenberg at the Mannes College of Music and with Rudolf Serkin at the Curtis Institute. He has been serving with Mitsuko Uchida as co-Artistic Director of the Marlboro Music School and Festival since 2000, and resides in New York with his wife, Marcia.
