THE NEW YORK GUITAR SEMINAR
"EAST COAST MEETS WEST COAST"

(New York, NY – May 12, 2003) New School University’s Mannes College of Music announces the third annual New York Guitar Seminar at Mannes, "East Coast Meets West Coast," from June 25 – 29, 2003. The Guitar Seminar brings together a distinguished faculty of guitar masters and guest speakers from New York and California for five days of intensive study and performance. This year there will be two evening faculty concerts with several New York premieres on each program. The New York Guitar Seminar at Mannes is open to students, aspiring professionals and classical guitar lovers of all ages seeking to broaden their music horizons. The seminar takes place at Mannes College of Music (150 West 85th Street, NYC). The New York and California-based faculty includes: The Newman & Oltman Guitar Duo (Ensemble-in-Residence at Mannes); David Tanenbaum (chairman of the guitar department at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music); William Kanengiser (faculty at the University of Southern California and member of the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet); Dusan Bogdanovic (faculty at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music); Frederic Hand (faculty at Mannes College of Music, Bennington College, and the State University of New York); Michael Newman (faculty of Mannes College of Music); and Laura Oltman (guitar instruction at Princeton University). Other guests are expected to attend.

Concerts take place on Thursday, June 26 at 8:00 p.m and Saturday, June 28 at 8:00 p.m. The program on Thursday, June 26 features The Newman & Olton Guitar Duo, Frederic Hand, and David Tanenbaum. The concert on Saturday, June 28 features Srdjan Berdovic, Dusan Bogdanovic, and William Kanengiser.
