NEW SCHOOL UNIVERSITY APPOINTS KRISTIN E. SORENSON AS
VICE PRESIDENT FOR DEVELOPMENT

(New York, NY – November 25, 2002) New School University President Bob Kerrey announced the appointment of Kristin E. Sorenson as Vice President for Development. Ms. Sorenson will be part of the President's senior management team with responsibility for overall fundraising strategy, management and administration at the University level and within each of the University's academic divisions. The divisions of New School University include: The New School, the Graduate Faculty of Political and Social Science, the Milano Graduate School of Management and Urban Policy, Parsons School of Design, Eugene Lang College, the Jazz & Contemporary Music Program, Mannes College of Music, and Actors Studio Drama School.

President Kerrey said, "We are delighted that Kristin Sorenson will be joining the University. She has extensive experience in fundraising through her work at Harvard and at various nonprofit organizations in New York. She is exactly the right person to lead New School University's development efforts at this critical time, as our eight schools become united as a university."

Ms. Sorenson remarked, "I am very excited about joining the team at New School University. It is a great moment for the institution, and I am looking forward to helping advance its dynamic educational mission."

Ms. Sorenson spent the larger part of her career, from 1991 – 1999, at Harvard University where she worked on a wide variety of capital fundraising campaign initiatives. She came to New York in 1999 and has worked as a consultant with various international non-profit organizations, including The United Nations Foundation, The Americas Society and the Council of the Americas, before becoming associate director of External Affairs and director of Special Gifts at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. In her most recent role at the Museum, she focused on the Museum's $800 million capital campaign, working with individuals, corporations and foundations. Ms. Sorenson holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio.
