MANNES ALUMNA, FLUTIST JEANNE GALWAY, TO PRESENT A
RECITAL AT MANNES COLLEGE OF MUSIC
ON WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 18 AT 8 PM

(New York, NY – August 15, 2002) Mannes College of Music alumna, flutist Jeanne Galway will present a free recital on Wednesday, September 18 at 8 PM, at the Mannes Concert Hall, 150 West 85th Street, NYC. An accomplished flutist, Jeanne Galway has performed extensively throughout Europe and in the United States as both a soloist and a chamber musician. She has performed as a soloist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, the London Philharmonic, and the Royal Philharmonic, among others. She also performs regularly with her husband, Sir James Galway, and engagements undertaken with him have included a fundraising tour of Japan, which included a private performance in the presence of the Empress of Japan.

Jeanne Galway, an accomplished chamber musician, is a member of the Zephyr Trio, which includes pianist Jonathan Feldman and cellist Darrett Adkins. Ms. Galway is renowned for her dedication to the development of young flutists and is Vice President of Flutewise, an educational organization for young flute-players. Ms. Galway has recorded for RCA Victor and BMG Classics. She performs on a 24-carat gold Murumatsu flute.

Ms. Galway graduated from Mannes College of Music in 1977 with a B.M. in flute.
