10th ANNUAL YOUNG WRITERS CONFERENCE
"VOICES OF YOUTH - THIS IS OUR TIME!"

(New York, NY – March 21, 2002) Eugene Lang College, a division of New School University, will sponsor the 10th Annual Young Writers Conference - "Voices of Youth - This Is Our Time!" - on Saturday, May 18, 2002 from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. at Eugene Lang College, 65 West 11th Street, NYC.

The Young Writers Conference is a daylong program devoted to the craft of writing, designed to support and encourage high school students who have demonstrated an interest in writing. Students will have the opportunity to interact with professional writers during the conference in workshops, group discussions and at readings. Topics of this conference's workshops will include:

Bader, freelance journalist; Sheryl Byfield, Director of the Teen Writing Program of Project Reach Youth, Inc; Renequa Johnson, Eugene Lang College senior and student writer; Carrie Leiser-Williams, Eugene Lang College senior; Catherine McKinley, Associate Director of the Publishing Certificate Program at City College and editor of "Afrekete" and "Memoir of the Book of Sarahs"; Miguel Angel Quijada, Eugene Lang College junior; Mustafa Shakir, poet; Mark Statman, Eugene Lang College professor and author; Gregory Tewksbury, Eugene Lang College professor and author.
