THE ACTORS STUDIO DRAMA SCHOOL PRESENTS ITS
FIFTH ANNIVERSARY REPERTORY SEASON
JANUARY 31 — MAY 12, 2001
AT THE ACTORS STUDIO DRAMA SCHOOL THEATRE

(New York, NY — December 15, 2000) The Actors Studio Drama School will launch its fifth anniversary repertory season of thesis productions beginning Wednesday, January 31 and running through Saturday, May 12, 2001 at the Actors Studio Drama School Theatre located at 159 Bleecker Street in Greenwich Village.

The repertory season will feature the 56 actors, 10 playwrights, and 6 directors who will graduate from the M.F.A. program in May 2001. The productions are free and open to the public. Reservations must be made in advance by phone at: (212) 479-1778 or by e-mail: theatre @newschool.edu. For further information on the Actors Studio Drama School, call (212) 229-5859.

Over the fourteen-week repertory season, productions will take place on Wednesday through Saturday evenings at 8 PM and Saturday matinees at 3 PM. More than half of this year’s program consists of original works written by M.F.A. playwrights. All the works will be directed and acted by graduating students, as they make their introduction to the public and professional community.

The Actors Studio Drama School, a division of New School University, was created in 1994 when the New School and Actors Studio — both institutions with long traditions of innovation in education and the arts - formed a partnership. The program is a comprehensive, three-year M.F.A. program with concentrations in acting, directing and playwriting. The Repertory Season represents the culmination of the three-year program of intensive study in each of the disciplines represented. James Lipton is Dean of the Actors Studio Drama School, as well as host of the Emmy-honored series, "Inside the Actors Studio," that airs on Bravo cable television.
