SAMUEL WONG TO CONDUCT THE MANNES ORCHESTRA
ON TUESDAY, OCTOBER 9, 2001 AT 8 PM

PROGRAM AT THE JOHN JAY COLLEGE THEATER TO INCLUDE WORKS BY BERLIOZ, MOZART AND WAGNER

(New York, NY – August 24, 2001) Samuel Wong will conduct The Mannes Orchestra in the first concert of the season on Tuesday, October 9, 2001 at 8 PM at the John Jay College Theater. The program will feature Berlioz’s Roman Carnival, Mozart’s Symphony No. 38 in D Major, K. 504 "Prague," Wagner’s Die Walk_re: Ride of the Valkyries, Siegfried: Forest Murmurs, and Götterdämmerung: Siegfried’s Rhine Journey. The John Jay College Theater is located at 899 10th Avenue, between 58th and 59th Streets. No tickets are required for this free performance. The next concert in The Mannes Orchestra series will take place on Thursday, November 1, 2001 at 8 PM at the John Jay College Theater.

Conductor Samuel Wong was appointed Music Director of The Mannes Orchestra in 1999. This season, in addition to his work with Mannes, Maestro Wong will return to the Toronto Symphony, the Orchestra of Castilla y Leon in Spain and the Honolulu Symphony. He will make his debut with the Orchestras in Milan, Italy and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
