METAMETIER: "EXAMINING THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN
TEACHING AND PRACTICE" EXHIBIT TO BE HELD AT
PARSONS SCHOOL OF DESIGN
OCTOBER 3rd - NOVEMBER 9th, 2001
(New York, NY - August 8, 2001) Parsons School of Design,
a division of New School University will be exhibiting MetaMétier,
a collection of works from staff of the department of Visual Communication at
the Glasgow School of Art. The department is one of the UKs leading courses
for graphic design, illustration and photography. A distinguishing feature of
the department is the breadth and quality of tutors with input into the course.
The exhibit will take place October 3rd - November 9th at the Arnold and Sheila
Aronson Galleries (66 Fifth Avenue at 13th Street in NYC). It will be open on
October 3rd from 6 PM 8 PM and will close on November 9th at noon. For

MetaMétier features the work and thoughts of twenty-two
contributors each who have taught in the department of Visual Communication
over recent years. The show is diverse, incorporating illustration, animation,
video, interactive design, letterpress, letterform design, calligraphy, paper
engineering, poetry and sound. Specifically the show focuses upon the relationship
between teaching and practice. MetaMétier is a part of the UKinNY festival.
Parsons Exhibitions demonstrate the Parsons School of Designs commitment to excellence and innovation in art and design; two galleries, open to the public, are scheduled year-round with exhibitions by Parsons School of Designs faculty and students and outside artists and designers.
