With the U.S. personal savings rate in the red, the future is increasingly uncertain for many middle- and low-income households. Teresa Ghilarducci, economist, author, and retirement security expert, will join a panel convened by the AARP to present her proposal for Guaranteed Retirement Accounts as a responsible public policy solution to restructure and secure the United States’ deteriorating retirement system. The Director of The New School’s Schwartz Center for Economic Policy Analysis, Ghilarducci’s upcoming book, When I'm 64; The Plot Against Pensions and the Plan to Save Them, investigates the effect of pension losses on older Americans.
