Depth Perception: Ways of Viewing Modern Art

Depth Perception explores how the interior and exhibition design of art museums and their galleries can create a more meaningful museum experience for visitors, to help them better connect with the art, the institution, and one another. The traditional typologies used for the design of art museums often leave people frustrated, fatigued, and without a sense of agency, making them feel disconnected and failing to appreciate the art they came to see. By providing spaces that constantly engage the viewer, encourage social interaction, and emphasize the material experience of viewing art, art museums can change the way visitors understand and engage with art to create a fulfilling experience.
